Italian Deli Sub

So this recipe is more inspirational than instructional. And I’m sure that your sandwich will end up delicious.

A good deli sandwich doesn’t need to be made by a total stranger behind a glass case. The contents of a good sandwich however, can be.

I’ve always enjoyed a good Italian sub, but I hated paying 6 to 10 dollars for one. Here, I can make four sandwiches for under $16. That’s a much better deal.

Ingredients for 4:

  • 4 submarine sandwich breads, split
  • ¼ pound sandwich pepperoni
  • ¼ pound salami
  • ¼ pound fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • Salt and pepper
  • 8 sweet pappadew peppers
  • 8 to 10 fresh basil leaves
  • Italian dressing (optional)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Prepare the sandwiches on a baking sheet.

Lie the halves facing up, and divide the meats, cheese, and peppers evenly between the four bottom halves. Season with salt and pepper.

Bake for 5 to 7 minutes.

Top with basil and dressing and serve immediately.
